Windshield Repair FAQ

What Twin Cities customers ask about chip repair, crack repair, mobile service, factory glass, and repair limits.

We don’t sell glass. We save windshields.

Why does a repair-only company matter?

Mint Chips does not sell replacement windshields. The assessment stays focused on whether the original windshield should be saved.

Can my rock chip be repaired?

Many chips can be repaired when the complete damaged area fits under a quarter. Location, depth, contamination, and previous repair attempts also matter.

How large a windshield crack can Mint Chips repair?

Mint Chips evaluates cracks up to 10 inches. Length is only one factor; location, age, contamination, edge involvement, and condition also matter.

Will the damage disappear?

No repair can promise invisible glass. The primary goals are structural strength, stabilization, and helping prevent further spreading. Some visual evidence normally remains.

Why send photos first?

One close photo and one wider photo help identify the damage type, approximate size, location, and obvious conditions before a mobile visit is confirmed.

Where is mobile service available?

Mint Chips serves retail customers, fleets, and dealerships throughout the seven-county Minneapolis–St. Paul metro.

Is Mint Chips part of an insurance network?

Mint Chips is independent and not an insurance-network provider. We are happy to work with your insurer when it agrees to our fair and reasonable rates.

When is replacement necessary?

Size, depth, location, contamination, edge involvement, or overall windshield condition may make replacement the correct answer. Mint Chips will say so directly.

What is crack arrest?

Crack arrest is intended only to help stop an existing crack from spreading. It does not remove, hide, or cosmetically repair the crack.
